Artist Troy Passey was recently interviewed by Charlie Woodruff on Radio Boise 89.9 FM. Click on the link below to hear Charlie and Troy talk about Art, Leonard Cohen and Butterfly Nets, not in that order! It is a funny and insightful conversation. Troy has been creating work for Modern Art since its inception and this marks his sixth year as a participant. He also currently has a solo show at the Boise Art Museum which includes many pieces made specifically for Modern Art in years past. Stay tuned to 89.9, Charlie will be interviewing more Modern Artists as we get closer to Modern Art 2013!
In the weeks leading up to Modern Art we are lucky to have successfully coerced five unique Modern Artists from our roster to create art installations that fill the Egyptian Theater Window located on the corner of Main and Capitol. Special thanks to artist Tomas Montano for curating, designing and organizing this and to the Egyptian for providing this unusual and inspiring mini gallery space. Come to the window for a sample of what’s brewing at the Modern on May 2nd!
On display now is the work of John Caldwell, mixed-media sculptor
April 5-11: Wil Kirkman, neon sculptor
April 12-18:Katherine Bajenova Grimmett, portrait artist/painter
April 19-25: Erika Sather-Smith, installation artist
April 26-May 4: Tyler James Bush, mixed-media/performance artist
