The Modern sure can make a hot summer night even hotter, and we can make the rains come and go!
On July 16, we welcomed Steve Turner and AKA Belle for an evening of music in the courtyard. Right before the show, lightning and heavy rain rolled in, almost flooding out the event. All the guests were excited enough to wait out the storm in the bar until the skies cleared. Once the music began, it turned into a very memorable evening.
It was our first time welcoming Steve Turner to The Modern. Well renowned around the world for his work in the Seattle music scene since the 1980s, Turner recently relocated to Boise. As well as performing solo acoustic songs, he talked about his book Mud Ride: A Messy Trip Through the Grunge Explosion, which highlights his life helping kickstart the grunge movement.
One of most favorites, AKA Belle were back for their second year in a row playing in our courtyard. They shared many new, uplifting songs from their new album All Time is Now, Now is All You Have + The Time for Love is Always Now. They give us so much warmth, hope, and fit in beautifully with the ginkgo trees in the courtyard.
From the excitement of waiting out the storm to the harmonious chants, guests were brought together in the best way. We are grateful to Steve Turner and AKA Belle for sharing their music, and thanks to everyone who braved the weather to join us.
