While her true love is fiction, she has been mired in the land of memoir for an extended period. Her book in progress, Jem: Story of an Irregular Isolation, chronicles the emotional impact of her search for her father through a series of illustrated vignettes. Rebeca lives in Idaho City with her cat, Philip, in a vintage RV named Emerald, on a tiny little piece of land which she doesn’t own, but has nonetheless named Balpinit Creek.

Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Orion, and the Los Angeles Review of Books, among other publications.
