Radio Boise presents the Couch Surfer Series, a monthly event featuring talk and performance with writers, artists, and musicians in the Radio Boise studios. Every second Sunday of the month, creators will talk about their craft, perform and read their work for a live audience.
For November, the couch holds poet CL Young, musician Eilen Jewell, with moderator RE Zickau.
Beer and wine will be available for purchase with ID and all proceeds benefit KRBX Radio Boise.
Single tickets are $15 and are limited, available beginning August 17th at 11 am. Doors open at 5:30 pm, event begins at 6 and runs until 8-ish with an intermission at 7 pm.
ABOUT CL YOUNG:
CL Young is the author of two chapbooks, including What Is Revealed When I Reveal It to You (dancing girl press, 2018). Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Lana Turner, the PEN Poetry Series, Pinwheel, Sixth Finch, The Volta, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from Colorado State University and lives in Boise, where she runs a reading and workshop series called Sema.
ABOUT EILEN JEWELL:
Known for what allmusic.com describes as a “country-flavored and blues-infused version of contemporary folk (which also can include healthy doses of rockabilly and surf),” Jewell’s discography includes several albums of original material and one of Loretta Lynn covers. Jewell has also recorded two albums with her eight-piece gospel-group side project the Sacred Shakers. Down Hearted Blues, which she and husband and bandmate Jason Beek co-produced, with engineering by pianist/banjo player Steve Fulton and Pat Storey, is her first collection of blues — despite the fact that she credits the genre for igniting her musical curiosity in the first place.
