Like everyone else in the country, we at the Modern are closely following each new development in the progression of the Covid-19 pandemic. After much deliberation and discussion, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close the Modern and Txikiteo. We believe this is the most responsible action to take in the face of this new and growing public health crisis. We all know that health care workers are on the front lines treating the sick; our job in the hospitality industry is to do everything we can to make sure people stay healthy in the first place.
Fortunately, to date Idaho has only a handful of confirmed cases. Like most Idahoans, the Modern has been lucky—none of our staff has been ill, and we’ve been vigilant about maintaining properly sanitized rooms and public areas. However, what we have witnessed in other states and countries has convinced us that this proactive approach is necessary in order to keep our community safe. This is uncharted territory for all of us, and we have no way of predicting how this situation will develop. For now, we are doing what we feel is best for the public, our guests, and our staff.
Meanwhile, the Modern is actively looking for opportunities to assist the community as we confront this unprecedented challenge.
We will continue to follow the guidelines set by the CDC, WHO, and local officials; because conditions are so fluid and rapidly-changing, we can’t be sure when we will be able to re-open. We’ll update you as we have more information. Until that time, thank you for your support; stay healthy and positive. Our community will get through this together.
